Resolutions and Public Affairs

For over 100 years our campaigns have tackled issues that matter to members. From equal pay to climate change, to violence against women and mental health to name just a few.

There will be a zoom meeting on 8 January where the shortlist of resolutions will be presented. All members of every WI will be able to cast a vote on which one they would like to be taken forward.

A voting form will be printed in the WI Life magazine with a summary of the proposed resolutions. Please take the time to complete the form and bring it along to the appropriate meeting.

Resolution 2023

The resolution with the most votes this year is clean rivers for people and wildlife. We voted unanimously for this and our vote will be carried to the Annual Meeting in Cardiff on 25 May.
I am pleased to announce that the vote was carried by 84%.

Resolution 2022

The resolution passed at this year's NFWI Annual Meeting is women and girls presenting with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and going undiagnosed. The NFWI calls on the government and funding bodies to fund the research into the female presentation of ASD and ADHD, and for action to be taken to improve the diagnosis process.

Green Dot Initiative

The Cheshire Federation has a map which marks each WI with a red dot.

Every WI is invited to make a proposal towards helping with Climate Change which will turn their red dot to a green dot.

In 2022 we achieved this by planting a tree in Eastham Rake, doing a litter pick and our Gardening Group tending the beds at Eastham Woods Courtyard.

In 2023 all our green dots are turned to red dots and we start again.

Our proposal for this year to regain our green dot will be to collect and recycle tablet blister packs which would normally go into green bin waste. The second proposal will be to have one raffle prize that is eco friendly. This will be to show products that our members may consider using in the future.

The WI membership has the opportunity for small ideas to make a big difference.

Due to disposal problems we are suspending the blister pack collection but will resurrect this if circumstances change. We did manage to recycle over 4000 which was a great achievment.

To replace this we are having a bring and buy sale on November 5. Please see diary dates for details.
